Indonesia consistently supports the two-state solution at the Global Forum

New York (Outsiders) – Indonesia’s fifth-placed presence at the top of the list of speakers reflects its important role in the international forum. Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto attended the High-Level International Conference for the Peaceful Settlement of the Question of Palestine and the Implementation of the Two-State Solution at United Nations (UN) Headquarters in New York, United States, on Monday (September 22, 2025).

The conference, co-chaired by France and Saudi Arabia, brought together 33 countries and international organizations to strengthen commitment to a two-state solution. Indonesia attended as a member of the core group, which plays a key role in the process of developing peace initiatives.

President Prabowo’s presence in the UN General Assembly reaffirmed Indonesia’s consistent support for the Palestinian people’s struggle. “Indonesia’s position is clear: we stand for a just, dignified, and lawful peace,” the government said in a statement.

The opening session included speeches by French President Emmanuel Macron, Saudi Arabian Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, UN Secretary-General António Guterres, President of the 80th UN General Assembly Annalena Baerbock, and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, who attended via video link.

Prabowo was the fifth speaker after Jordan, Turkey, Brazil, and Portugal. This order reflects the priorities of the core group of countries overseeing the implementation of the two-state solution.

At the forum, world leaders reaffirmed their support for the New York Declaration , considered a crucial stepping stone towards peace. Indonesia played a role in drafting the document, which was ratified by the UN General Assembly.

President Prabowo was accompanied by a number of ministers and officials, including Minister of Foreign Affairs Sugiono, Minister of Human Rights Natalius Pigai, Minister of Investment and Downstreaming Rosan Roeslani, Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya, and the Permanent Representative of the Republic of Indonesia to the UN in New York Umar Hadi.
